What's inside
Nine pages, two parts.
The toolkit starts with a scorecard to rate the education you run today. Then four worksheets take you from a first Equity 101 module to education that runs all year, with a 30-day plan to launch it.

The employee education scorecard
Score five areas from 0 to 2, from whether employees understand their equity to how many repeat questions reach HR. Your total out of 10 puts your program in one of three bands, and an issue log gives each gap an impact, an action, and an owner.

From Equity 101 to launch
Build a first module on what equity is, the main types, vesting, and the decisions employees may face, with one real example in numbers. Map education to four employee events, pick your channels and core content, then launch over four weeks.

Who it's for
Written for the people employees ask.
It's for the HR, total rewards, and stock plan teams who grant equity and answer the questions that follow. It covers RSUs, ISOs, NSOs, and ESPPs, and delivery runs through channels such as your portal or LMS, email, Slack or Teams, newsletters, and live sessions.
If you hold equity yourself and have a question about your own grant or taxes, ask your company's plan team or a tax adviser.

Common questions
Employee equity education questions.
What should an Equity 101 module cover?
The toolkit's first module covers what equity is in plain language, the main types (RSUs, ISOs, NSOs, and ESPPs), what vesting means, the decisions employees may need to make, and one real example with numbers. It suggests three formats: a 3 to 5 minute video, 5 to 10 common FAQs, and a one-page PDF guide.
When should companies educate employees about equity?
When employees have a decision to make. The toolkit maps four moments, each with its own content: joining, a grant, an approaching vest, and a liquidity event. Between them, it plans quarterly refresh campaigns. For why one session at onboarding isn't enough, read our article on year-round education. Employee equity education happens year-round
How long does the rollout plan take?
The plan runs over 30 days in four weeks: audit and identify, build the foundation, implement the system, then launch and refine it with employee feedback. Your own pace depends on your team and the materials you already have.
Is the toolkit tax or legal advice?
No. It's a framework for your own education program, and it advises keeping legal and tax detail light in employee materials. For tax or legal questions about your plans, talk to your tax adviser or counsel.
